Eye shadow base, also known as primers are an absolute requirement for showing up the actual shade. I was in a look out for a good eye shadow base for my oily lids that tend to crease the eye shadow if applied directly. NYX is available at Sephora and its eye shadow base comes in different shades, the SA recommended me white one. According to her, colors tend to show more on which base than skin tone.

Maximize the intensity, longevity and unashamed brilliance of your eye shadow statements with our eye shadow primer pots. Each of the three NYX Eye Shadow Bases—for vibrant, pearl or neutral tones—creates a smooth canvas for color, increases its durability and prevents fallout.
The eye shadow base is pure ‘white’. It comes in a round clear plastic container with a white lid on top. It looks almost like a gel eyeliner case. The formula feels very creamy, slightly towards the oily side. It gives a sheer coverage on first application which is quite right as base. The eye shadows show much pigmented than they did without this base. Creasing was still there but it did not fade the eye shadow color, as it would without the base. I have not come across any eye primer (the ones that I have tried) till now that would minimize creasing. This base definitely brought a whole lot more definition to my eye makeup. I love this product. This product works great and this cute little bottle is going to last me a long time.
Recommendation? True colors and pigmentation is great with this product. If you are more towards bringing out the rich colors and pigmentation from your eye shadow, try it. Oily lids need to be careful with the amount you apply. A little is more with this product.
